I Win

2 Timothy 3:12

Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

As a promise, we will experience sufferings. Philippians 1:29 says, “For to you it has been granted for Christ’s sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake,”

About 20 years ago, I did not quite understand that my Christian walk meant that I would be persecuted. As these things begin to happen, I was shocked, hurt, angry, confused, and feeling revengeful. The only thing that I wanted to do was run from the people hurting me and run from the church, the body of Christ

A few weeks before this, I had just completed reading an encouraging book on being in a battle. After reading the book, I was pumped. I said, “Okay, I got this.” The next week I had to go court. I prayed, “God, let me win, please let me win.” Well, I went to court and I lost. I did not quite understand why these things were happening to me. Why didn’t I win?

It wasn’t until a friend of mine gave me a book about how silver is refined. Silver, when melted, gets extremely hot. The heat allows the impurities to come to the top called dross. The dross is skimmed off the top and discarded. It was then that He was trying to teach me that He was not trying to punish me. He wasn’t even mad at me. He was simply taking the dross off the top of the silver that was being refined. He says, “You are the sliver and I am the Refiner.” The dross is the impurities in you that must come out.”

I realized that the outcome of the battle is already determined, because we are more than conquerors. God will never send me into a battle that I cannot win. Even when I think I’ve lost, He lets me know, I win.
