It Depends
My morning devotion talked about the temptations of Jesus after he had fasted for 40 days.
Matthew’s account in Matthew 4:1-11 shows that in each temptation that Satan bought to Jesus, was countered with the Word.
His first temptation was, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” He did not depend on the bread but trusted in the Word.
His second temptation was, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down and have your angels lift you up.” He did not depend on the angels but trusted in the Word.
His third temptation was, “All of this I will give you if you will bow down and worship me.” He did not depend on Satan but trusted in the Word.
IT IS WRITTEN….
At the end of the day, Satan wants us to question our DEPENDENCE.
He tries to attack us in our most vulnerable times. He wants us to question who we truly depend on.
His goal is to take our focus off of God and to depend on ourselves. Once we focus on ourselves, we no longer depend on God. His Word becomes secondary to our decisions. Depending on ourselves demonstrates doubt in God.

Let's not be so hungry for an answer that we depend more on the bread rather than the Word.
God trusted, obeyed, and afterward, the angels came and began to minister to Him.
