"It is Finished"
6th Last Word of Jesus on the Cross.
“It is Finished”- John 19:30
Remember with me the story in Luke 2:49- Mary and Joseph prepared for the journey to Jerusalem with their family and friends for the Passover. Jesus now, was about 12 years old. As they celebrated the Passover and it was nearing the end and they prepared to leave on their journey back home.
On the way back home, they traveled about one day and realized that their Son, Jesus was not with them. (Day 1) They then turned around and heading back to Jerusalem to get Jesus, took them about another day. (Day 2) Once they returned to Jerusalem, they searched for Jesus everywhere for about another day. (Day 3)
When they finally found Him, they said, basically, in our vernacular, “We have been looking for you for 3 three days. Where in the world have you been? You had us worried.”
He simply answered them with 2 questions. “Why is it that you were looking for Me? “Did you not know that I must be about my Father's business?" Now, that business committed to Him, was finished.
But God has given us all a work. And He desires us to be about His Father's business.
What task is it that God has called you to commit to and finish? Maybe it's writing a book, starting your own business,
joining the choir, answering your call to the ministry. Have you started?
May we all be as dedicated as the One who endured to the end to complete His work for us.
