Don't Touch the Stove, Baby

Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. Matthew 6:13

We are all familiar with temptation and have learned some great lessons from them.

When we tell our kids, “Don’t touch the stove baby, it’s hot,” What’s the first thing they do? Yep, they touch the stove. All the warning signs are there, but no, they have to check it out and see for themselves.

-they have been told it is hot.

–they see the red hot burner from a distance

-they even feel the heat

-they touch it and get burned

Now mommy comes to the rescue. Mom nurses their poor little fingers, bandages it up, and lets it heal over time. But was the lesson learned?

You see, children don’t always see the danger, the harm, or the hurt it will cause. They don’t see that it will cause sorrow and pain, but praise God for Momma.

We, as God’s children, at times are not different.

-we have been told…”flee from these things, you man of God… 1 Timothy 6:11

-we see it from a distance…But each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. James 1:14

-we felt the heat… Then after desire is conceived

-we touched and we got burned… it gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. James 1:15.

Now Daddy “Abba” comes to the rescue. He loves on us with discipline. It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? ...

All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness? Hebrews 12:7-11.

But was the lesson learned? You see, we don’t see the danger in Satan’s purpose, and it is to steal, kill, and destroy. John 10:10. Oh, but glory to God in his infinite wisdom. He is the dunamis (power) to rescue and deliver us from the evil one.
